All my work on the projects include slides full of context, research and planning; as well as a collection of images of my process and production.  Here is the work I had done on my Game Jam!

Context

&

Research

To  start the project  off, I looked into the the different jobs that are related to creating video games. I realized how many jobs there were in the game making industry, and that whatever your preferred digital design aspect is, there will be a job for it in the game industry. To follow up this research I also looked at actual job listings to do with game design, such as character design; looking at the salaries, what is required, and other professional art work.

As research, I looked at what makes a good Game jam, and what skills/tips I need to participate in a Game jam. I made sure that with all of my research I linked other sources where I got my information, so  I can back up my writing. I also looked up other game elements games have that make them fun to play, like goals,  game components, and visually pleasing environments. I made sure all of my writing was in detail to show that I understood the topic I was talking about.

Planning

After looking into  what makes a video game good, and the different features/components that are needed, I started to brainstorm my own game idea with these things in mind. As well as the fact that my game idea needs to be kept simple seeing as I don't have a lot of time to create it.

I had come up with 3 different ideas, giving each its own description and mood board, with my video game inspiration and it's genre. I referenced other video games that inspired me and that had the same sort of idea behind it.  I also collected feedback from my peers, asking them which idea they preferred.

In the end I decided to stick with my first idea and began to develop it further. I drew up sketches of what the scenery would look like, and planned out my aesthetic, target audience.

In attempt to prepare myself for this project, I also watched some tutorials on pixel art and how to use Unity.

Production Log

In my Production Log, I start off by showing the shared feedback me and my peers did. This was to insure we knew how to give helpful feedback, and how to work according to said feedback.

I slowly got started with my background design and the character that the player is supposed to control. I did all of this in pixel art, as that was the style I had chosen. I had come across many problems when creating my game; problems to do with sizing, and exporting my assets to Unity, However in the end I was able to create a functional video game.

Evaluation

The final thing I did for this project was an Evaluation on all the work I had done. This included my honest thoughts about my work and my final product.
